    A Chartered Civil Engineer since 1983, Phil completed a 2006 Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship to study street design in Western Europe. His essay ‘City Planning as if people mattered’ won the 2007 Ecologist Magazine Essay Prize. Phil has designed and delivered several Shared Space style schemes from 1988, and with two projects commended in the CIHT Awards in 2008 and 2016. Phil is qualified with Highways England to carry out Road Safety Audits.

She is a member of the London Borough of Merton Design Review Panel and has taught design studio at the University of Bath.

Her recent projects include large scale residential projects with adaptive re-use and new build elements in London and Bristol. She has also developed a specialist expertise in cultural heritage and museum projects with third sector clients. Clare has extensive experience implementing sustainable strategies in the adaption, repair and restoration of listed buildings.

She is a consultant urban designer with experience in leading on national and international projects with themes of Town Centres, Zero Carbon Housing, Just Transition in masterplanning, carbon management and climate risk analysis.

    Nick has lived in Bristol for over 20 years and is a structural engineer for Ramboll. He has worked on projects far and wide, ranging from Hengrove Leisure Centre to an Iron Age roundhouse and a major new hospital for Stockholm. Nick enjoys contributing outside his discipline and believes that we reach better solutions when we’re willing to look outside our silos and understand the requirements of all team members.

    Harriet has 10 years’ experience working in place-shaping. As an architect she predominantly worked for public sector clients, which inspired her move to the sector. While working for the Greater London Authority’s planning and regeneration team, Harriet worked with London Boroughs, community organisations, Mayor’s Design Advocates and teams across the GLA to deliver the Mayor’s Good Growth by Design programme. Harriet now leads a team at Homes England, delivering affordable homes in the Southwest region.

    Simon is an urban geographer, strategic town planner, infrastructure designer, regeneration consultant and consenting specialist with 30 years’ experience of leading interdisciplinary planning and sustainability teams. He is experienced in complex schemes involving transport-oriented infrastructure, also in early-stage policy, strategy and feasibility studies. In 2022 he completed a place-based PhD in Geography and Planning. Previously his career covered highways, rail, energy and water projects as well as urban regeneration. He supports Design Commission for Wales in panel reviews and workshops and is a Member of Bristol Advisory Committee on Climate Change. Simon’s recent work includes major regeneration frameworks: Bristol Temple Quarter, Frome Gateway and Bristol City Centre.

Max’s expertise lies in the overlap between Architecture and Urban Design, with a specialism in creating high quality housing schemes. Recent work includes producing Design Codes and subsequent detailed designs for Wichelstowe – a distinct new community just south of Swindon.
