Veronica Barbaro

Veronica is a chartered Town Planner now working in digital. She has a real interest in sustainable place-making, resilient design, regeneration and community-driven development. Her experience includes over 10 years in private multi-disciplinary consultancy, working on a breadth of major projects, from national infrastructure schemes (including HS2) to complex city centre regeneration sites in Bristol, Bath and the wider South West. Veronica has a robust understanding of the development management process, as well as development economics and viability considerations. She is a visiting lecturer at UWE and has recently become an Academy of Urbanism Academician.

Juliet Bidgood is an architect/urban designer and RIBA Client Adviser. She is experienced in working with communities, enterprises and organisations to envision and shape engaging places. She is expert in design policy, design for public buildings and spaces, and residential neighbourhoods. A design review panel chair since 2010 Juliet led the co-design of the West of England Placemaking Charter. Formerly a senior government advisor at CABE and founding member of the award-winning collaborative practice muf Architecture/Art.

Richard is an urban designer and urban planner with extensive experience in the preparation of design strategies, development frameworks and neighbourhood plans. He has particular expertise in engaging with local communities to help shape and influence emerging spatial strategies. Richard is a visiting tutor on the architecture course at the Arts University Bournemouth and an urban design teaching fellow at the University of Southampton.

Shruthi is an Urban Designer, Planner and Architect who is passionate about creating evidence-based design solutions that achieve the right balance between people and environment. She has led and delivered multi-disciplinary urban regeneration and development masterplans in the UK, Sweden, India and Middle East. She has published and delivered talks on sustainable development. Her core areas of focus are sustainable urbanism, climate resilience, TODs, co-design, design codes, healthy places, 20-minute communities and digital planning.

Julia has expertise in a wide range of building types across several sectors, with experience in arts-related buildings, artist collaborations, education, master-planning and residential projects. She was a partner at FCBS from 1998-2009 and has been a director of Bath-based practice Kashdan-Brown Architects since 2011. Julia has also been a Teaching Fellow at the University of Bath since 2009. She currently tutors the final two years of BSc and the first year of MArch.

Shabnam is an architect with robust expertise across architecture, sustainability, business case development and construction management. She set up her practice in 2015 after working with award winning firms on diverse projects, including the mixed-use Quadrant 3 in Piccadilly Circus for The Crown Estate, and the housing and public realm for Battersea Powerstation. Shabnam is passionate about her obligation as an architect to civic engagement and to improve the quality of our built environment. She has a special interest in designing for social inclusion and integration, encouraging urban rewilding and biodiversity, and designing dynamic and adaptable spaces that serve the community.
Tanya Ross

Tanya has been involved in leading some of the country's highest-profile projects: the Millennium Dome, the O2Arena, the London 2012 Stadium, the THFC stadium, so she knows a thing or two about delivering complex projects to immovable deadlines. More recently she has led the engineering design for the (sadly unbuilt) Bristol Arena and the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus adjacent to Temple Meads Station in Bristol. As someone with mobility challenges, she also brings a practical understanding of inclusivity to all she does.

Ben is a place development consultant with a particular interest in inclusive economic development, food, culture, and community engagement. He is a High Streets Task Force Expert and as a senior fellow, was on the development team at the lead delivery body the Institute of Place Management. Ben is Chief Executive of the Angel Islington Business Improvement District and has an MSc in Place Management and Leadership. He has authored national guidance for public bodies conducting reviews and similar work for the Greater London Authority’s Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm.

Piers Taylor is an architect and founder of the award winning practice 'Invisible Studio' whose work has been published widely and internationally. Their work includes large scale cultural regeneration projects such as East Quay, Watchet and research led projects for the Architectural Association and Westonbirt Arboretum. Taylor has held teaching posts at the Architectural Association and the University of Cambridge and is Professor of Architecture at UWE.
